We all experience many journeys in life. Often times we are left wondering why certain things happen to us. Why do we suffer? Why we do experience joy? Why am I alone? Why, why, why . . .

The journeys I’ve experienced are the reasons I chose to be a financial advisor. I was inspired to learn how to help myself and inspire other women to be prepared for whatever journey life takes them on. Everyone will go through transitions in their lifetime, it’s inevitable. Whether your transition will be divorce, death, loss of a job, or moving to a new community, take confidence in knowing you can be prepared to handle it. No one knows when tragedy or transition will strike, but it can happen any time.

It’s one thing to know what someone does and how they do it, but knowing the why behind what they do is key. My why moment became a reality about a decade ago when I found myself “suddenly single” again. I had just turned forty and I was a proud mother of three beautiful children that were nearly raised. I was healthy, I had a great family, amazing friendships, owned my own home and I had a good job, but I was suddenly on my own. I should have been able to stand on my own two feet, right?

Well, I had a big missing piece in my new life; I wasn’t financially healthy. I had always trusted and believed that piece was being taken care of for me. I was always interested and curious about money and what it can do for us, but I never took the necessary actions to have peace of mind about my own finances. I knew that I needed to sit down with a financial planner and figure out the best way to begin to plan for my future, including saving for retirement.

I realized at that time that no matter what stage of life we are in, it’s CRITICAL to be financially healthy. There are so many things we don’t get a second chance at and you wouldn’t believe the number of things we do to ourselves unintentionally. Managing your financial health is something that needs to be intentional. It also need to be tended to early and often! You need to have a personalized financial plan that is a growing and breathing document.

I decided I was going to learn how to take care of myself financially and then teach others how to do the same. Building relationships, nurturing, educating, compassion, caring, and appreciation for others, have always come natural to me. I knew I just needed to become an expert in helping other people manage their money.

Working with a financial advisor that has “Been there and done that!” has many benefits and I’ve had the opportunity to walk with many clients down their own paths of transition. This kind of guidance through life’s trade-off decisions and financial challenges are invaluable.

I work with many different types of clients, but helping women through transition, specifically divorce, is a passion of mine. Whatever journey life takes you on, work with a financial planner that gives you financial confidence. This confidence will come from knowing you have a well thought out plan and strategy to get you through life, no matter what cards your dealt!
